Haiti restoration will be a lengthy process

It was day twelve of the new decade, and the nation of Haiti was hit by what could be one of the ten deadliest earthquakes ever recorded. The 7.0 magnitude quake devastated the capital city, Port Au Prince, killing as many as 200,000 people. Haitian authorities estimate that roughly three-quarters of the city will need to be rebuilt. SGA approval secures concert

The concert Medaille students have all been waiting for is no longer just a dream. Student activities board proposed a plan for an additional $14,000 from student government for the ability to bring a well-known band to Medaille for the end of the year concert.

Students express desire for continual development of new common space

The new Medaille College coffee lounge, located on the fourth floor of the Main Building, is open for business. While students were allowed to get a taste of the lounge and what it had to offer at the end of the fall semester, its affirmation as a part of this campus was made official on Tuesday, January 19.

Speaker spreads message of hope

On February 3, SAB held a program titled “Does HIV Look Like Me?” The program featured Christina Rock’s personal account of growing up and living with the virus. Rock, 25, was born in Massachusetts but after losing her mother to AIDS spent her adolescence in Florida with her father.

Medaille and other local college are uniting in an effort to help Haiti

D'Youville College: The college is collecting monetary donations around campus, and is teaming up with Catholic Relief, Doctors Without Boarders, and the Red Cross. Campus Ministry is holding a February Luncheon for the "What Matters to Me Most" Series specifically on What Matters to Me Most in a Time of Tragedy. Full story

Stevens settles in at Medaille

As students may or may not have noticed, there is a little change in Medaille’s snack shop. It’s a new face on the staff. Therese Stevens, a native of Staten Island, NY, is a vibrant addition to Medaille. She lived between Staten Island and Brooklyn until 2000 when she decided to attend college in Atlanta, GA.

Mavs ranked 25th in the country for Division III

The Medaille Men's basketball team has been on a tear this season with a record of 18-1 overall and a 13-1 in conference play. Currently, they are also ranked 25th in the country for division III men's basketball. The most impressive victory this year had to come against John Carrol University as the Mavs were able to knock off the ninth ranked team in the country in late December to avenge there loss in last year's NCAA tournament. Great chemistry is key to Lady Mavs' success on the court

The Lady Mavs have far exceeded their expectations with their play this season. “We all expected to be good, we knew we had the experience, but being undefeated in the conference was past our wildest dreams,” said Mandy Sahhar. Coach Pete Lonergan had three reasons why he thinks his team has been so successful this season.

Mavs record 'setting' season

Through February 3rd, the Medaille College Men’s Volleyball team is 7-2, ranked 15th in the country and has had some command performances out of its usual suspects, as well as some new faces to the team. Junior Libero Dan “Tito” Jackson has broken the all-time digs record and currently sits at 739 digs.

Athletes find ways to donate to Haiti

The catastrophic earthquake in Haiti left hundreds of thousands dead, and has left even more Haitians without food and shelter. Of the countless relief efforts that instantly came to aid the devastated country, one has gone largely unrecognized. Numerous athletes and sporting organizations have established Haiti relief funds in the wake of the disaster that rocked the country.
