Zombieland delivers unexpected laughs

I have to say when I first saw the previews for Zombieland, I was unimpressed and uninterested. I figured they were already showing its audience the somewhat funny parts. The rest would just be plain cheesy and lose my respect by trying too hard to make me laugh. Well, I was very wrong.

Zombieland turned out to be outrageous and hilarious, a combination I could sit through for hours. It starts out with a loner kid we know as Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) who is afraid of pretty much everything.

His world has been taken over by zombies (which by the way, always go for the intestines when snacking on humans and that doesn’t sound too good). Columbus has developed many rules that he follows throughout his adventure, such as “Always Check the Backseat” and “Don’t Be a Hero.”

He is one of the only people left, until he comes into contact with no-nonsense tough guy Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), who drives them around and spends most of his time looking for a Twinkie to eat in the zombie-infested world. Columbus and Tallahassee off-set each other perfectly and entertain throughout the entire movie. They meet up with two scam-artist girls, (Abigail Breslin and Emma Stone) and the foursome gets into many new adventures. Quickness is the key as they head towards an amusement park for safety, beating down anything that gets in their way.

The flick is filled with crazy and unexpected fun, featuring a special guest (Hopefully it’ll be a secret for you until you see it), plenty of zombie ass-kicking and a new reason to be afraid of clowns. Zombieland isn’t trying to be anything it’s not and definitely exceeded my expectations. When it was over, I was craving more. Now I know not to judge a book by its cover, and in this case, not a zombie movie by its previews.
