Campus clock tower looks nice, but cannot be trusted

Medaille College is a small, urban campus. The campus has only a few buildings on the Main Campus in Buffalo. The only major buildings we have on campus are: the Main Building, the Sullivan Campus Center, Huber Hall, Downey Science Building, and both of the Residence Halls.

Something we also see in information packets is the two-story Kevin I. Sullivan clock tower that is hooked on to the campus center. This tower and building was dedicated to the former President of the college, Kevin I. Sullivan, who was president from 1987-2001.

This clock tower is a very good-looking piece of architecture, but I have one problem with it: it does not work. I have been told on several occasions that the time it showed was wrong. I myself have looked at the clock and saw that the time in fact was wrong and was not even close to what time it really was.

When I see this, I kind of chuckle to myself and think that Medaille has other things to fix before that. But when I really thought about it, this looks really bad on the schools part. Lets say an incoming student and his or her family comes for a visit. They see the clock is not telling the right time, or worse, that it is not even working. The reactions from them could be negative, and the negative image in their head might sway their opinion on the whole campus.

I know that it will take a lot of work to fix, but something like this should be taken care of.

This clock tower is a beautiful thing for the campus and I would really like to see it working and being used to its full potential.
