Delay of fourth floor construction leaves student anxious, optimistic

Have you ever been the child in the back seat of the car during a long car ride? Of course, we all have had that opportunity at some point and can probably clearly remember that waiting was not fun!

I bet over two-thirds of us have asked that infamous question to our parents to drive them even more insane: “Are we there yet?” Consider me guilty of playing this role in my parent’s insanity because, I have (and I’m sure you have too) asked that question countless times.

The same idea applies to the fourth floor coffee shop in the Main building. Are we there yet?

Construction that started sometime over summer, or early September, is still not done. Renovations to the fourth floor of the main building are still underway with plans still being modified. However there are many anxious students waiting for the fourth floor construction to come to an end.

If you are a coffee lover, a commuter who would like a different hang out place, or a typical student who would like to use the area to do homework or other activities, you still have to be patient.

However, the idea of getting something new on campus sounds very appealing as of now. Since the Medaille campus in smaller than other campuses in the area, there are a limited number of places where you could possibly go.

But will the fourth floor lounge be used often, or just a hot spot for a week before becoming like the other various lounges on campus?

Even though some students do not think it will be used, I think that the
students and faculty will enjoy it and use it frequently. In addition to that, Spot Coffee will be provided up on the fourth floor lounge so if that isn’t an incentive to go there I don’t know what is.

You can hopefully look forward for the opening of the fourth floor lounge in early December, and don’t forget you can always check the progress with the webcam.
