The Flag Football season was another successful one and came to an end with a dramatic victory in the quad last month.
A lot of students, residents and commuters alike, have taken part in the games.
Several teams were organized prior to the Fall season consisting of five to eight players per team.
Run by SMAT, the school’s Sport Management Assist Team, referees, pinnies, footballs, and most importantly flags were provided for each team.
The games consisted of two twenty minute halves and were played on weeknights.
The intramural had a successful turnout this year.. “The season was a success”, said Garrett Layton who helped run the league.
Besides a few bumps and bruises, the league only had one injury. Despite being a non-contact league, tempers sometimes flared and guys would go down to the ground always to be pulled back up by a teammate or rival player.
In the finals, Team Blue Ribbon won the ever-coveted Championship. The team is mostly made up of the Medaille Baseball team. Blue Ribbon enjoyed a dominating season and often overmatched their opponents with a combination of offense and stellar defense. As a result, they received free T-shirts given to them at the Championship game. Most importantly though, they’ll be able to hold bragging rights for the next year.
Next semester there will be Basketball intramurals according to Garrett Layton. “Everyone should get involved, it will be a great time.”
