The Medaille Hockey team’s season has gotten better as the season has progressed.

At first, they were off to a rocky start but that tends to be a struggle that almost every team faces at the beginning of every season.

They have learned to play well and built on their team chemistry. The young players have started to play well and have built up a rapport with their upperclassmen teammates. The team faced the loss of Greg Grosskopf in December after he graduated.

“It looks like we’ll have a good team next year seeing as we will have returning players and only will have lost one senior,” said Matt Foster.

The team will miss the talents of senior Fran Wirtner next season, who said, “It has somewhat turned into a rebuilding season with new coaching and a lot of freshmen. We hope to continue to take this team to new lengths.”

The coaches will also be able to take the experience that they have and recognize the team’s strengths and weaknesses and be able to work with them.

The team’s season is winding down and they only have a few more games left, but the team still has the chance to make the playoffs although it will be a tight race. They would have to win the rest of their games and hope that a couple other teams end up losing.

They will finish their regular season with an away game. This will mean that students will have to wait until next year to attend another game at the Amherst Pepsi Center.

The team is still looking to try to get their games broadcast through the school. The goal of having the games broadcast is to gain a larger fan base and allow students to follow their games even if they cannot attend the actual game.
